This is my first time doing a blog. I have no idea what in the world I'm supposed to type, I just know that my page looks rather empty. Haha! Well, I guess that I'll just update everyone with what's going on in my side of the family.
A few weeks ago my dad found out that my mom has a serious gambling problem. She put them in a very large amount of debt. My dad found out about this because he went to buy something and the card was declined. He called my mom and asked if this was something they needed to talk about and she said yes. That night after work they talked. Mom explained her problem and asked Dad if he wanted her to leave. He said yes. He then started looking into getting a divorce, even going so far as to talking to a lawyer. So, for the past few weeks my mom has been living with my sisters, going back and forth from one to the other. Dad was refusing to talk to mom except through e-mail for information about the bills. They talked on the phone about a week ago, but the conversation deteriorated and nothing beneficial was said. Then, Mom tells me yesterday that she and Dad are going to get together to talk about everything. I get a call late afternoon and Mom said that she and Dad have agreed that she can move back in and they will try to work stuff out together. I'm not sure if that means that they are going to stay married and work on the money issues together, or if Dad is going to still get the divorce finalized, but stay together, so that they have separate finances.
I don't know why, but for some reason knowing that they are going to try to work through this stuff together just makes me feel safer. I really hope that they can get this stuff figured out and can find a way to get out of the debt and start trying to figure out how to deal with everything; a big thing being the trust issues that are now there for my dad toward my mom. If you will, please keep my parents in your prayers and ask that God helps them to get through this and to heal my mom's addiction as well as to help mend my parents trust.
Thanks for reading my long, first blog. :)
